HILENA TO CARRY TOP WEIGHT Winner of the Lassie Stakes Gets Chance to Redeem Recent Poor Showing in the Spinaway. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. T., Aug. 24. Juvenile fillies are brought together in the special feature cf the Saratoga Association Thursday when the Adirondack Handicap is down for decision. Of the acceptances, Hilena, winner of the Lassie S.akes, but which was well beaten in the Spinaway, is at the top under 120 pounds and Joseph E. Wideners Crazy Jane, which finished such a close second to the Greentree Stables Easy Day, has to take up 117 pounds. This is just two pounds more than she carried so well in the previous filly prize. Besides Crazy Jane, Henry McDaniel promises to send White Lies to the post for the vice-chairman of The Jockey Club. The daughter of John P. Grier is in under 112 pounds. Sunny Queen, sister to Pompey, and Enactment are a pair named to race for W. R. Coe. The daughter of Sun Briar is handicapped at 115 pounds, while Enactment has to take up 112 pounds. There is Edward R. Bradleys Barn Swallow at 116 pounds, and from his various nominees James Fitzsimmons chose the Wheatley Stables Iseult, at 115 pounds, as his representative. Samuel Riddles Speed Boat, Mrs. John Hay Whitneys Wary and William Duponts Star Fairy, the light weight of the party with an impost of 107 pounds, completes the company of ten. . .There is every prospect that the track will be at the best for its running and, taking a line from the Spinaway, this ought to be a notable renewal. Hilena disappointed in the running of the previous filly prize, while Crazy Jane ran a rather remarkable race to carry a fast pace and only lost in the closing strides. Should the Widener filly come back with the same sort of a race she will keep the best of them busy, but it is confidently expected Mr. Jones Lassie winner will show greatly improved form. " The Adirondack is of ,000 guaranteed and at one time it was open to both sexes, although now it is confined to the fillies. Some good ones have inscribed their names" on the winning roster, but the fact that it is a handicap has prevented some of the best of each year from starting. For this running William Woodwards Happy Gal, winner of the Juvenile, Flash and the Saratoga Special, was handicapped at the top -with 126 pounds as her burden, just seven pounds over the scale and six pounds more than the Hilena assignment.
