t HAWTHORNE TURF NOTES $ Jockeys Melvin Knight and T. Reno departed for Bainbridge Tuesday night. Entries for Saturdays Springfield meeting will be accepted Thursday morning at the racing secretarys off ice. at Hawthorne by judge John Garey. There was no overweight on Beautiful Doll in the seventh race Tuesday; instead, it was two and one-half pounds overweight on Cousin Judy. Jockey Johnny Maiben departed for Ogden, Utah, where he will stop off for a week before going to Tanforan. Apprentice Joe Flynn, a recent arrival from California and who is under contract to R. B. Allen, had his first mount of the meeting when he rode Lucky Carter in the eighth race Wednesday. Miss Bunting, which accounted for a stake at Arlington Park, was fired and will be out of training until the fall. Badminton and Bunch of Lilies came out of their last engagements badly lamed and avill be absent from competition indefinitely Apprentice L. Humphries, who has made , several trips to the eastern Canadian tracks, : is due for another visit to the Canadian territory, this time to Devonshire, where the i meeting will get under way Saturday.
