ANOTHER OLD RECORD BROKEN MONTREAL, Que., Aug. 24. For the second time in two days a sixteen-year-old track record went overboard at Mount Royal this afternoon when the fast and consistent Hogarty ran five and a half furlongs in 1:05, to clip two-fifths of a second from the record held by H. G. Bedwells Nellie B., here on August 23, 1916, sixteen years ago almost to the day. Beaten by Westys Fox on the opening day, Hogarty came back this afternoon to hand the gray flash a sound beating, as Westys Fox, with 120 pounds up, faltered under the weight in the stretch run and finished fourth. Hogarty dominated the race, which was the Loews Theater Handicap, right from the start. Early in the running he shook off a stubborn challenge from Prioress and, saving every inch of ground under a good ride by Eames, had plenty in reserve at the end when the Quebec-bred Uvira, drawing up steadily, finished with a game rush to wrest second place from Prioress.
