LAT0NIA TURF NOTES i In addition to the older Jacobs Ladder, Gambado and Teaberry, J. S. Middleton has received eight yearlings to train for Mrs. Payne Whitney, owner of the Greentree Stable. This division of the stable goes to the Fair Grounds, New Orleans, and will be campaigned through the entire Crescent City season. An injury suffered in a fall here two days ago so pained G. South as he rode Sym Jack in the opening race today that he was obliged to cancel his later engagements. Col. P. T. Chinn and James T. Looney were up from Lexington for the day. Colonel Chinn continued on to New York this evening. There will be no change in post time for the first race tomorrow, Championship Stakes Day, the field for the opening contest coming out at the usual hour of 2 oclock. Jockey R. Morrison reported indisposed and was excused from filling his engagements. J. A. Healy brought out Mad Frump and sent him three-eighths as his final preparations for the Championship Stakes tomorrow. He covered the distance on the heavy track in :40, breezing. Catalogs for the sale of horses in training, to be held in the Latonia paddock under the management of the McFerran Sales Service tomorrow, were distributed today. From fifteen to twenty horses will be offered. The Peconic Stables Ultramarine injured herself after being loaded for shipment to Kempland Farm and Ed Hayward decided to leave her here for the present. William Hinphy may ship about three head to New Orleans and a like number to Oriental Park. M. W. Buck wired in quest of stalls and may ship on from the East for the closing week of the meeting. J. G. Lang, whose Elmtree Stable is here in charge of C. W. Damon, will arrive from his home at Buffalo, N. Y., Saturday. While here Mr. Lang and trainer Damon will map out plans for the winter. According to present arrangements, Damon, at the close of this meeting, takes the Elmtree horses to Lexington for a short rest and, while there, will return a couple of horses to training. B. B. Williams is sending High Explosive, Scotland Beauty and Chatwink to Lexington after the Latonia meeting, where they will be rested before moving on to Hialeah Park. While en route from Maryland to Latonia, Max Hirsch stopped at Lexington to inspect the eleven yearlings he has at the Kentucky Association track in charge of Joe Patterson. Seven of them are the property of Hirsch and four the property of M. L. Schwartz. Hirsch plans on selecting the best of the lot for a campaign at Hialeah Park. Several of the youngsters are the get of Terry, the young North Star III. horse whose get made their racing debut this year. After this meeting A. J. Pershall is shipping the division of the Blue Star Stable he has here to Jefferson Park and has arranged to send nine from Fairmount Park to the New Orleans track. At the close of the Jefferson Park meeting the Blue Star Stable will be shipped to Oriental Park.
