PHAR LAPS SISTER ARRIVES Nea Lap, Australian Filly, Purchased : by C. V. Whitney, Shipped to Kentucky Immediately. NEW YORK, N. Y., Nov. 4. Nea Lap, a full sister to the sensational Phar Lap, arrived here consigned to her new owner, John Hay Whitney. Several hours after her arrival she was loaded on an express car and shipped to Lexington, Ky., where she will join the band of brood mares that the young sportsman has at that point. Nea Lap, according to the Australian seasons and method of reckoning years, is a four-year-old. She raced well in New Zealand, where she was foaled and during the summer months she was sold to Mr. Whitney. The mare was shipped on the cargo boat, Canadian Cruiser, from Auckland, N. Z., and stood the long, tiresome trip in splendid manner. Her quarters, so arranged that she would have plenty of room to turn without bumping into a side wall, afforded her plenty of light and air. The feeding and watering arrangements were ideal. More than enough fodder was loaded on the boat at New Zealand and special casks of water were stored in a cool spot on the boat. The Canadian Cruiser encountered no bad weather all the way and docked at Erie Basin late Thursday afternoon. An express car was in readiness on the siding and when the mare was loaded, it was switched over to the Pennsylvania railroad and attached to a limited train for Lexington. The stallion that will be mated to Nea Lap has not been selected. Nea Lap is by Night Raid, from Entreaty, by Winkle. Night Raid is a son of Radium. The mare was owned and raced by John J. Gatenby of Haumoana, Hawks Bay, N. Z. She is a bay or brown in color, standing close to sixteen hands and is of the rangy type. She has won several races in New Zealand, principally oyer a distance of ground.
