1 WASHINGTON PARK NOTES t $ The Thoroughbred Horse Association held its first meeting of the Chicago season at the Thomas Hotel, Chicago Heights, day evening. Plans for further reorganiza-I tion of the association were taken up and the meeting was presided over by L. D. Jones, former field executive of this association. Another meeting will be held Friday at the same hotel. William E. Smith, vice-chairman of the Kentucky State Racing Commission; Lawrence Jones and Henning Chambers, directors of the American Turf Association, are coming from Louisville for the American Derby. Mr. Smith arrives Thursday and Messrs. Jones and Chambers Friday. Charles McLennan, son of Joseph McLennan, racing secretary of the Arlington Park Jockey Club, is arriving tomorrow from Baltimore and will assist in compiling nominations for the Arlington Park Stakes closing Saturday. Lou Meripole, local horseman, arrived yesterday from California and was a visitor at Washington Park today. The useful mare Peace Lady is dangerously ill with influenza. She is owned by C. H. Voskoetter. The western division of the Greentree Stable that Jack Middleton has at Lincoln Fields was augmented by the arrival of the three-year-old, Moppet, and the two-year-olds, Bitter Root, Hit and Run, Cherokee Sal and Overton. Bill Brennen, trainer of the eastern division of the stable, shipped the quintet from Belmont Park in the car that brought Gold Basis and Mr. Khayyam. Mati Hari, the unbeaten home-bred filly that races for Charles T. Fishers Dixiana stable, had another mild speed test since her mild illness at Churchill Downs, when she ran a half mile in :48 at Washington Park this morning. She is one of the three fillies that owner Fisher has here for the Debutante Stakes to be renewed at Lincoln Fields. Trainer Cylde Van Dusen hopes to have her under colors for that important engagement. Under the direction of trainer J. F. Patterson, the Audley Farms Rocky News breezed a mile in 1:42 at Washington Park this afternoon. Patterson brought him out between the second and third races. Edward McCuan is shipping the sixteen horses he has at Washington Park to Rockingham Park next week. McCuan also will take along C. L. Mackeys Fast Life and Eddie Lehmann. Apprentice J. Doonis, whose contract McCuan purchased from Mackey, will accompany the stable. Culloden, which H. Jones claimed from T. C. Worden, was turned over to L. Dilger to train. Jockey Jimmy Smith, who arrived from Bowie Monday, accepted his first mount Wednesday. W. F. Poison took over to train for Miss S. Ashford the plater Glove. Harry Unna added J. Emerys three-year-old Short Hand to the stable he has at Washington Park. Arthur Goldblatt is training Impish, Beau Todd, Worthy Polly and Beau Dis for L. Unders Beau Brummell Stable. D. and R. Calaldos Alice Pefty arrived at Lincoln Fields and was turned over to J. Manale to train.
