CALCULATORS ERROR COSTLY TORONTO, Ont., May 31. A calculator in the Thorncliffe mutuel plant made an error that cost the association ,648.20 in the Oneto Pool in the closing event on opening day. The calculator when the race was run found out that there had not been any combination sold on Uppity and Yellow Metal, which finished first and second respectively, so flashed the second and third horse. It is understood that tickets on a winner get the preference even if it i3 coupled with a horse that finishes as far back as fourth over that of those finishing second and third. The error was not found until after two of the three holders of the combination on the place and show horses had each received 24.10. On checking over the tickets it was found that there were sixteen who had the winner and the third horse combined. Each of these holders were rewarded with 54.50.
