1 CONEY ISLAND TURF NOTES t S George Reid, track superintendent reports there are 766 horses stabled on the grounds. This" colony consists of 300 two-year-olds; 184 three-year-olds and 282 older horses. Jockey W. West arrived from New York and became affiliated with the Joe Shakes- pere stable. George Vance is making his engagements. Cecil Howard took over Miss Bruce, Ann Bruce; Fannie Boot and Nancy Kerr to train for S. Ottang. James Gass is training Helen Green for Mrs. S. T. Baxter. Like Sweep, which C. R. Valentine shipped to Thistle Down, was returned from that point Thursday morning and R. Evadinger arrived from Cleveland with Blanket Bay and Gomstockery. Dr. C. N. Finch is a visitor from his home at Jeffersonville, Ihd. The second issue of the condition books will be distributed among the horsemen Friday. George Reid, track superintendent, stated that Joe Roberts .would bring three horses from Empire City and that P. H. Aichele would have six in the same car. Jockey W. Garner, W. Todd, G. Williams and W. Moran accepted their first mounts of the meeting Thursday. Garner returned from his home at Centerville, Iowa, where he went for a short visit after the close of the Latonia meeting. A. Easton vanned three horses over from Latonia. Included in the shipment coming here from Thistle Down are Frank Wood, four; W. Freeman, three; F. Perry, two; F. Clayton, three and H. Herendeen, six horses.
