LOOKING FOR DERBY HOPE John McKee in Market for High Class Two-Year-Old for Undisclosed Patron. CICERO, 111., Aug. 10. John McKee, Kentucky horseman, whose judgment of the thoroughbred brought a number of notable performers into the stables of several outstanding owners, including Norman W. Church, John McKeon, Hamilton H. Cotton, Baron Long and Chaffee Earl, is in the market for a high class two-year-old or two. Acting for an undisclosed patron, McKee is only interested in horses with Derby possibilities and he expects to leave shortly for the East, where he will inspect several horses. The aforenamed patrons for whom McKee purchased and raced horses are among Calir fornias leading sportsmen and, with the lone exception of Earl, are owners of large thoroughbred breeding farms in the Golden State. Bon Homme, among the horses McKee bought for McKeons account, is standing at the latters Meadowbrook Farm, near Los Angeles, while Cherry Tree, which McKee purchased along with Dr. Clark and Wilmer the Wizard for Long, is in the stud at the Californians 1,500-acre ranch near San Diego. Sunspero and Sweeping Away, among the many horses McKee selected for Cottan, are at the head of Cottons La Brae Ranch at San Clemente. Naishapur and Jim Dandy, the flashy pair McKee bought and raced for Earl, under whose colors they won approximately 09,-000, are in training at Hawthorne, while Flagstaff, the notable acquisition the veteran Kentuckian made for Churchs account, is living a life of. ease at Churchs Mira Monte Stock Farm. With Jim Dandy, McKee won a Grand Hotel Stakes and Travers City Derby, while Naishapur won the Tijuana Derby and was second in the Coffroth Handicap, Kentucky Derby and American Derby, under the Earl silks. In the Travers, Jim Dandy defeated Gallant Fox and Whichone. Flagstaff, Sunspero, Cherry Tree, Dr. Clark, Serenada, Sandy Man, Prince Tii Tii, Bon Homme, Moonraker, Elector and others also were successfully campaigned by McKee.
