1 SARATOGA TURF NOTES 1 s : T. J. Pendergast, Kansas City sportsman, arrived for a lengthy visit. Joe Edwards stated that he had gelded the bay yearling by Master Charlie Epingle. Improvement in the condition of jockey J. Battista was reported from the Saratoga Hospital. The boy is suffering from a punctured lung, which was sustained when he fell from Blondish the opening day. William Woodward, owner of the Belair Stud and chairman of The Jockey Club, was an arrival today. Rodman Meecham, well-known "breeder, was among the days visitors. Jimmie Ackerman has received from Rockingham Park a tentative schedule for steeplechase races for the fall meeting. Three handicaps are proposed and other races that will suit the quality of fencers shipped to the course will be drawn up. Improvements about the plant include relining the stalls, erection of new toilets and filling around the grounds surrounding the stables. The stake blanks for the Havre de Grace 0,000 added features for the fall meeting, the Potomac, Eastern Shore and Havre de Grace Handicap, arrived here Thursday. Dr. H. J. McCarthy, well known Baltimore veterinarian, arrived Thursday. Twenty-eight yearlings are at Red Bank for the Greentree Stable and well advanced in their preliminary racing education. R. S Castle, part owner of the Brann-castle Stable with R. L. Brann, was a visitor Thursday. Mr. Castle announced that Preston M. Burch had been retained by his establishment in an advisory capacity on the breeding of mares at their farm. R. Roberts will continue to condition the horses in training.
