BENEVOLENCE showed good speed from the start, failed to withstand PLAYFUL MARTHA after overtaking CONDESCEND, but held on well and was up to win in the final thirty yards. PLAYFUL MARTHA, strongly restrained when trying to bear out on the stretch" turn, worked her way to the front in the stretch, but tired in the closing stages. SICLETTE bore out all the way and held on gamely. CONDESCEND closed a gap in the first quarter, was steadied on the turn, but tired badly in the final three-sixteenths. TESTOUT, away fast, had no mishaps. IN PAR and BELLES LAST began slowly. JIGAPOO, rank at the post, failed to start with the others. Scratched 85482 Barbara Carom, 114. ALLENS showed speed, tired suddenly in the stretch and came again near the finish. BUGS LEARY tired. PORTMANTEAU, away slowly and sharply forced back when trying to get through on the inside on the turn, made up ground on the outside in the stretch, but could not reach the leaders.
