SARATOGA SPECIAL OUTLOOK Twelve of Fifteen of Best Two-Year-Olds of Year May Meet Saturday in Noted Race. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., Aug. 10. At this time there appears an excellent chance that twelve or fifteen of the best juveniles in training will go to the post in the Saratoga Special, to be run Saturday. This sporting sweepstakes was brought into the Saratoga Springs racing scheme by the late William C. Whitney in 1901. The subscriptions are by invitation at 00 each and the winner takes all. For the Saturday renewal there were twenty-eight subscriptions. They are half forfeit and even with only ten going to the post, it reaches a fitting value for its sporting importance. This years race will probably introduce Warren Wrights good colt Hadagal to Saratoga racing. He ran a half in :48 this morn-ing hard held as a part of his preparation. Mrs. John Hay Whitneys Singing Wood showed a readiness by a five furlongs trial in 1:01. Peace Chance, which may be the Henry McDaniel choice of the Joseph E. Widener eligibles, showed an easy five furlongs in 1:04. George D. Wideners good .colt Kawagoe, a recent winner, was galloped along for six furlongs in 1:21 under stout restraint This fellow proved his readiness by his recent victory. Others of the possible field are Frederick Burtons good filly Wise Daughter, recent conqueror of Black Buddy. Then there is Black Buddy himself, or Spy Hill, which is in the same subscription as the son of Bud Lerher, and First Minstrel, which is named in a second subscription. Only one may be started from each subscription. C. V. Whitney enjoys three subscriptions and Collateral, Trumpery and Fogbound are in different ones, so that Healey may start three if he so desires. Alex Gordon has Sir Thomas as his best and H. C. Phipps has a magnificent colt in Cleves that is eligible. These are just some of those that may be seen in action Saturday. Each has shown high quality in trials and there is no juvenile stakes of the year that has a greater sporting appeal. For that reason the Special invariably brings together the best. .
