CHAMPION EQUIPOISE I TRAINING AGAIN .. SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y., Aug. 10. Equipoise, the champion, is galloping again. T. J. Healey had C. V. Whitneys magnificent son of Pennant Swinging on the track this morning and while he was only, asked to breeze along for an easy mile in 1:50 he was under double wraps all the way and appears fit and ready at any time. The next engagement for the sturdy chestnut comes Saturday in the mile and three-sixteenths of the Merchants and Citizens Handicap. He is in that prize under a burden of 139 pounds and there has been no announcement of the stable plans. There has been a slight interruption in training since the scratching of the horse from the Saratoga Handicap, in which he would have had to take up 142 pounds, and it may be that he is not entirely tightened up for the long gallop Saturday. Some of the other eligibies that have been training for the running are Larranaga, Mate, Helianthus, Snap Back, Osculator, Gusto, Dark Secret and Golden Way, though it is possible and probable, that both Golden Way and C. V. Whitneys The Darb will be reserved for their engagement in the Kenner in which they only meet those of their own age.
