OUR ME WINS AT PIML1CO Bryson Miss Proves Best of Juve ¬ niles in Headline Race Yowell Rider of Color Bearer Lodges Claim Claimof of Foul Daniel Soot Accounts Accountsfor for Steeplechase BALTIMORE Md May 8 Our Mae winner at the Fair Grounds in February and twice successful at Bowie in the first fortnight of April scored again at Pimlico this afternoon in a high class claiming race for youngsters of both sexes over four and a half furlongs A daughter of Our General and Mae Quince she is owned by E K Bry ¬ son This race which attracted Color Bearer Tracker Barcarolle Ladys Favor Apathy Off Gold Catalans Lad and Hot Griddle was about the best race of the midweek card that did not boast of much quality It was run over a fast track before a crowd of about 7000 7000Yowell Yowell lodged a vehement protest after the finish claiming that Our Mae which was ridden by young Jacobs pinched him off as he tried to get up on the inside in the last fifty yards and Color Bearers backers applauded when he mounted the stairs of the stewards kiosk The protest was quickly dismissed The stewards were close and it was as clear to them apparently as it was to the press stand that Yowell had driven his mount into a place in which he had no business businessTracker Tracker a son of Sun Briar and Parade Trail from the stable of Cornelius Vander bilt Whitney beat Our Mae away from the stalls and Tracker was in front to the middle of the far turn Our Mae passed him on tHe outside as the two swung around the stretch turn and quickly assumed a lead of two lengths Color Bearer cut this lead to a length in the run home only because Jacobs was watching Tinker over his right shoulder and did not see the High Time gelding moving up next to the rail Color Bearer had a head on Tracker at the end Clear skies and a fast track prevailed prevailedThe The heavily backed Bally Bay and the almost strongly fancied Instigator the for Contlnued on twentysixth page OUR MAE WINS AT PIMLICO Continued from first page mer a winner at Havre were nowhere in the first a claimer of six furlongs which drew eleven Bally Bay was out in front for a while with Washout but tired in the stretch Instigator could not get going Toy time from the Labrpt Stable and Maryland bred came through by virtue of a home stretch rush after rather an unpromising start and paid a little better than 8 to 1 But the Happy Time filly an earlier Pimlico winner was tiring fast as Caerleon a half brother of Genie and Epithet challenged Caerleon away well enough somehow did not get into his stride quickly He ran another such race at Havre de Grace The Baltimoreowned Pennywise which finished third may have needed this race raceFinding Finding his racing legs quicker than he had in several earlier Maryland races and meeting poorer company as well No Saint won the only twoyearold race on the pro ¬ gram without trouble Naturally he was a strong favorite The race was one of those sprints of four and a half furlongs and his opponents were Rustic Joe Ogle Be ¬ ginners Bait Carmanchita Sumatra Gold Sweep and Dilate After No Saint a son of High Time and Sister Joan owned by Mrs John Hay Whitney Beginners Bait Ogle and Carmanchita were supported in the order named Beginners Bait a winner in Florida disappointed as he had at Havre de Grace Rustic Joe which paid better than 4 to 1 for second place was away be ¬ fore No Saint but the High Time gelding passed him quickly and took a winning lead on the far turn He had plenty left as he finished with a wide margin between him and Rustic Joe which beat Ogle by half a length for second place Cantersine under the silks of Charles Meister and industriously ridden by Merritt won her second race of the meeting when she defeated Tight Wad Cantroud Cancel Treadhaven and Aske in a dash of six fur longs for Marylandbred threeyearolds She was all out to get down in front of Tight Wad which was blocked when he tried to get past her in the middle of the far turn by a narrower margin than a length Young Fallen Tight Wads rider lodged a claim of foul after the finish but the stewards dis ¬ allowed it The race was between these two from the start Aske was a disappointment so was Treadhaven a gray daughter of Sir Greysteel and La Muiron and an own sister of Tred Avon and Monel Cantroud like Cantersine a son of Canter ran better than he had in an earlier race He was only a length behind Tight Wad
