RIGID DRUG RULES IN OHIO Only One Case of Stimulation Before BeforeNew New Commission Thus Far Beulahs Segregation Stall COLUMBUS Ohio May 8 In Ohio as in other states where state commissions are now functioning the rigid rules in effect to stamp out the use of stimulants in horses seem to have had a highly satisfactory re ¬ sult The Ohio season is young but so far there has been only one case and this at Hamilton was dealt with quickly and ef ¬ fectively after the commission examiners re ¬ ported that the saliva of the horse The French Rose had shown evidence of strych ¬ nine nineA A segregation stall has been arranged at Beulah Park where racing begins Saturday and attaches of the state health department will have charge of the examinations A certain number of horses are to be selected every day not only when there is a sus ¬ picion but as a precaution and no trainer or owner will know in advance when his horse is to be examined examinedGeorge George H Blecker of Mansfield Ohio is chairman of the commission and spent some time in Florida during the winter studying the methods of the Florida commission Randall H Anderson of Youngstown a re ¬ tired planter is serving a fouryear term as commissioner Isaac J Collins of Lan ¬ caster who has been a breeder and horse owner and whose business is banking and glass manufacture is on the board for two years James A Shevlin of Cincinnati is a nember and he is taking an active part in turf affairs The secretary is George E Gates of Massillon Ohio
