W C CHAPMAN DIES DIESNEW NEW YORK N Y May 19 William C Chapman known as Buttermilk Bill on all the race tracks of America died at the Fifth Avenue Hospital early Saturday morn ¬ ing He had been ailing at his home in the Cornish apartments FiftyEighth Street and Sixth Avenue for several weeks He was about seventy years old and was born in Liverpool England He came to America with the shipment of Pierre LoriJlard horses on their return after the first Lorillard in ¬ vasion of England and was an exercise boy and jockey for the stable in the eighties For many years he was an associate of the late Joseph P Murphy and was always a successful horse player He leaves a widow and one daughter Mrs Jerry Southerland Funeral services will be announced later and will be held from Plaza Funeral Home 40 West FiftyEighth Street
