QUEBEC RACING OFFICIALS Julius Reader Presiding Steward and andRacing Racing Secretary at Four Tracks Tracksin in Province MONTREAL Que May 19 The official racing family for meetings of the Quebec Racing Association which open at Blue Bon ¬ nets on June 2 with the first fourteenday meeting staged here since 1909 was com ¬ pleted today with the announcement that the popular and efficient Julius Reeder would be back as presiding steward and rac ¬ ing secretary on the four tracks of the as sbciatiori which hold fiftysix days of con ¬ tinuous racing Reeder has been servingat various American tracks during the winter nionths and wired director Leo Dandurand that he would be in Montreal oh May 27 Walter Ritchie has been named starter Horses poured into Montreal headed by a shipment of eleven owned by R Scotty Robertson Three cars came from Dallas two carloads from Aurora one from New Orleans shipped by J Quinlan and three from Toronto Already over one hundred horses are quartered at Blue Bonnets and announcement was made that Jack OBrien was shipping a carload of horses from the Aqueduct track at New York It is now a certainty that there will be no shortage of horses on the Quebec circuit but that in the vicinity of three hundred at least will be ready to start at the Blue Bonnets opener The colors of still another hockey magnate will be seen on Canadian tracks during the coming season Leo Dandurand part owner of the Canadien Hockey Club and original manager of the team under its present own ¬ ership will be represented in the renewal of the Provincial Nursery Stakes at Blue Bon ¬ nets by Leo D a son of Cudgel from the former useful race mare Miss Holland Leo DIS now at Toronto in the string of Joseph CattarinSch Leo Dandurands business part ¬ ner but will come to Montreal along with the Cattarinich horses for the opening of racing at Blue Bonnets 4 Competition in the Nursery Stakes this season is expected to be keener than at any time in the history of this picturesque event There are some thirty Quebecbred two yearolds mostly sired by Cudgel a few of other breeding in training at Blue Bonnets emphasizing the upswing in interest in the breeding industry here A field of fifteen is expected to compete for the juvenile home ¬ bred prize set for renewal for Saturday June 9 the second Saturday of the meeting
