YOUNG PILOTS THREE WINNERS Takes Riding Honors at Popula Dufferin Park Course Double Doublefor for H C Hatch TORONTO Ont June 21 The fifth and featured race at Dufferin Park Thursday brought about a more thrilling finish than any of the four preceding numbers and saw the placed trio separated by half lengths after an interesting contest over seven fur longs Dark Mission just acquired by M Butch Keeling popular young sportsman from L Gentry scored at the first asking for his new owner and the victory was poptf lar with the crowd crowdR R E Leslies Meridian Queen after set ting the pace until well down the back stretch and second time around lasted to take the second part of the purse front Semester almost split favorite with the win ner Bushman Zangwill and Caerleon fol lowed the placed trio past the line in the order named namedMeridian Meridian Queen was first in motion but was closely attended by Semester and Zang ¬ will as the first half mile was covered At this point Zangwill was showing signs of tiring and at the end of five furlongs Dark Mission had replaced the Stevens racer in third place and was being rated along by S Young a half length behind Semester which was the same distance back of Meri ¬ dian Queen QueenGoing Going around the far turn of the course and into the stretch Young let loose a wrap and Dark Mission readily took command but Meridian Queen was hanging on dog ¬ gedly and it still looked like cithers race up to within fifty yards of the finish Dark Mission was not to be denied however con ¬ tinuing gamely to gain his half length vic ¬ tory Semester was coming again at the finish and Meridian Queen had all she could do marginS to save second place by a like margin S Young was riding his third winner in the feature having previously scored with the two successful Hatch racers Rosepath and Sweepstaff
