SYRACUSE IN THE SPOTLIGHT Many Requests for Stable Room Re ceived Daily From Owners New Loud Speaker Being Installed TracK TracKand and Grounds Being Put in First Class ClassCondition Condition for Opening July 4 SYRACUSE N Y June 23 With re ¬ quests for stable room coming in daily tha track and grounds itself being put in top condition and president Leo Dandurand on the scene overlooking everything plans are progressing smoothly for the tenday meet ¬ ing starting July 4 4Among Among the latest applicants for stalls was B Keller from Fairmount Park Wil ¬ liam Hudson at Dayton and Jim Arthur at Charles Town are soliciting horses from these points In addition to these tracks horsemen have made applications from New York and Canada assuring a highly repre ¬ sentative list of horses While several worichieh are grading and levelling the course h6re so that it will be in first class condition for the opening an ¬ other corps of men are installing a new loud speaker system President Daridurand announced that Jim Farley ace of loud speaker announcers who is now serving at Fairmount Park will be here for the entire meeting Dandurand also stated that he will name the entire staff of officials for the meeting in a few day So far only two positions are known that of Tommy Gorman as rac ¬ ing secretary and G R Buddy Wingf ield as starter The two stewards Dandurand will name from the Association will be joined by a representative from the New York Racing Commission CommissionWord Word was received from Fairmount Park that Frankie Hawley who will be custodian of the jockeys room will leave that track on June 30 so that he will be on the scene several days before the local campaign be ¬ gins Hawley will bring with him Red Nichols who will be outrider for the meeting meetingAdditional Additional word from Fairmount was to the effect that many of the leading horse ¬ men on the grounds in receipt of condition books for the meeting are well pleased with the conditions which provide purses from 400 to 1000 and will ship their best thor ¬ oughbreds East EastSome Some of the owners who have announced their intentions of coming here are Mrs E K Bryson Shipp McMaster Vic Gallo Butsy Hernandez Mrs A K Miller R Scoville J Molay E Lutz and F Seremba SerembaMrs Mrs Bryson has in her string of fourteen horses two really outstanding juveniles Our Mae and Blind Star Our Mae has won five of her ten starts while Blind Star has captured four out of six starts The latest victory last Saturday saw Blind Star set a new Fairmount four and a half fur ¬ longs track record of 54
