DISCUSS LEXINGTON MEETING Thoroughbred Club of America De ¬ bates On NonProfit Meeting at Century Old Course LEXINGTON Ky June 23 The question of whether a short racing meeting should be held this fall at Lexington under the management of a local organization and purely as a sporting proposition with no idea of making a profit was discussed pro and con by members of the Thoroughbred Club of America as the clubs regular meet ¬ ing at the Lafayette Hotel HotelThe The consensus of opinion was that through the cooperation of the community and the America Turf Association such a meeting would be feasible but the details would have to be worked out with an eye to economy None of the speakers how ¬ ever favored the promotion of such a meet ¬ ing unless the purse values could be kept as high as 500 with 400 as an absolute minimum minimumIt It is understood that if a brief racing pro ¬ gram is scheduled here it would be possible to return the annual renewal of the Breeders Futurity one of the countrys richest twoyearold races to the local track trackAmong Among the speakers were senator John ¬ son N Camden Arthur B Hancock Thomas B Cromwell Desha Breckinridge Samuel M Look and Andrew Leonard LeonardThere There have been oome meeting among holders of the preferred stock in the Kentucky Association but no definite action has been taken since the passing of the dividends by the association There is 200000 worth of preferred stock which now has voting power and could be con ¬ verted into bonds so as to give the holders control of the track trackAnother Another meeting of these stockholders is scheduled for next Thursday night and the Thoroughbred Club adjourned today with a statement from president Thomas Piatt that its further action would depend upon the action taken by the stockholders next week
