PLAN 50000 RACE FOR EQUIPOISE SAN FRANCISCO Calif June 23 William P Kyne has returned from the East with the assurance that all the high grade eastern horses his new Bay Meadows track can accommodate will be on hand for the opening October 27 The track is at San Mateo about twenty miles down the peninsula from San Francisco FranciscoPlans Plans for a threehorse race between Equipoise Cavalcade and Sun Beau for a purse of 50000 are being considered by the general manager He intends to return East soon to personally meet the owners of these horses to see if the race can be arranged With the new Los Angeles track offering a purse of high value for Equipoise to race for the double opportunity may tempt the Whitney board of strategy strategyMuch Much interest in California racing among the big eastern owners was reported by the local sportsman At the close of the Kansas City meeting which he con ¬ ducted Kyne went to Chicago New York and Cleveland returning via Los Angeles to confer with officials of the Los Angeles Jockey Club His visit to Cleveland was for the purpose of discussing the management of the Thistle Down course late this summer While nothing definite was settled Kyne stated it was not likely he would conduct the meeting as he will need to devote all of his time from now on to prep ¬ arations for the Bay Meadows meeting
