MARANOT was well rated behind the fast early pace of BAGAMAC, secured racing room between tha leaders in the stretch and closed well. STICKNOT lacked early speed, moved up very fast on the final turn,-closed with a rush through the stretch and was wearing down the winner at the finish. BAGAMAC had good early speed, saved ground, but tired. LITTLE SARGENT raced with the leaders from the beginning, went wide entering the stretch, losing much ground, but closed well when straightened. KID GLOVE, well up in. the early stages and racing on the outside, was carried wide by LITTLE SARGENT and had scant chanca thereafter. SECOND RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. MOMIJI, away well, had good early speed while being restrained behind the pace, moved to the front entering the stretch and, under hard urging, held ROMOLA safe. The latter, always in the first flight, saved ground and finished stoutly. GAFFING had good early speed, but tired in the final drive. PEWTER CREST, slow to find her best speed, gradually improved her position and finished well. CUDGELDRU raced evenly and showed a good effort. ANDIRON had early speed, but quit badly. SWANSEA, up with the leaders from the, beginning and fencing strongly, took a long lead when MADAME WARD and CELERITAS fell and had only to complete the course to win. ZERMATT dropped far out of it early, but completed the course to be second. LEADGOLD took command to the first turn of the field, refused at the ninth fence and again at the twelfth, losing much time, but finally negotiated the course. CELERITAS was racing in a contending position when he fell over MADAME WARD at the eighth obstacle, was remounted, and finished the course far back. MADAME WARD raced and jumped well until she fell at the eighth fence. Overweight Leadgold, 2 pounds. FOURTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. Edisto, May 27, 1926 1:446-1 112. SALLY FULLER, taken in hand when settled into her stride, moved up easily when called upon on the" far turn and was in hand for the balance of the trip. PESTLE had good early speed to take a slight lead at the half-mile ground, held on well there-after, but was no match for the first two. TAX FREE, sluggish in the early racing, closed some ground. EPICURUS turned in a dull performance, did not enter serious contention at any time and had no oxcusK VINGT CINQ showed a flash of speed for a half mile, then quit badly. The latter, reserved from the early pace, moved up stoutly in the stretch, swerved over on the winner under punishment in the final sixteenth and just failed to get up. SCOTCH QUEEN, slow to find her speed, closed very fast. THREATENING, sluggish in the early stages, made up some ground. THISTLE DUST flashed some speed. COONEY quit. MARMION dwelt slightly at the start, trailed the field until entering the stretch and closed stoutly. ILCHESTER had good speed while racing between BIOGRAPHY and SHADY WELL in the early part, but faltered when put to a drive. MISS MONOA raced evenly and closed well. CROFTER was never a contender.
