MARK TIME AT LATONIA Overflow of Horses for Coming Meeting at Covington. 4 Surplus of Racing Material a Problem for Superintendent Nolte - Officials Due Today. LATONIA, Ky., May 22. With the arrival of more than 300 horses in the last twenty-four hours, the Latonia track attendants are facing a housing problem which is becoming more acute hourly. The thirty-seven day meeting opens at the Covington course Saturday, and at the present rate of arrivals all stables on and around the grounds will be filled. Charles Nolte, track superintendent, who has charge of the .assignment of stalls, says he can accommodate about 900 horses, but already has had requests for quarters for .nearly half again as many. Meanwhile the secretarys office was humming with activity as Larry Bogen-schutz and Fred Burton, assistants to racing secretary W. H. Shelley, accepted registrations, issued badges and attended to the countless details attendant to that department. In contrast to the condition that prevailed last summer, no sickness has been reported among the 500 or 600 horses already at the track. Last year sickness beset nearly every stable, particularly those which housed two-year-olds, but Nolte said that so far this year not a single case has been reported. LATEST ARRIVALS.
