Frank Ortell, Tom Thorp and Jack Fitzgerald journeyed to Baltimore to represent the New York Turf Writers at the funeral of Thomas Kirby Lynch. John Gaver returned from Latonia where he saddled Gillie in the Derby. Jockey F. Horn accepted his first mount on Royal Vixen, after an illness of several days. Major General, which ran for George Boehle in the third race Monday, was claimed by the B. B. Stable for ,,500.
