SOPHRON, fractious at the post and away slightly to the rear of the field, was rushed up on the outside and into command, dropped back entering the stretch, but came again in the final eighth under a vigorous drive to wear down VILLE CREST and was going away at the end. VILLE CREST, well placed throughout, saved ground all the way, slipped through next to the inner rail in the stretch to take command and just failed to last. PEPPER PRINCE had early speed, dropped out of it rounding the turn and, closing fast through the stretch, closed a big gap. ANOKA could never better her position under punishment. RED VAMP sprinted into command at once, saved ground all the way and drew out in the Final eighth to an easy victory. FORCEFUL, well placed throughout, moved up threateningly entering the stretch, was carried wide when JEAN PITTSTON raced wide, came fast through the stretch and outlasted LAST STAND, but was no match for the winner. LAST STAND, an early trailer, came with a rush through the-last quarter. JEAN PITTSTON forced the pace from the start, weed wide entering the stretch and lost much ground. VITELLA, well placed throughout, closed gamely, but was no match for the winner. WHY NOT steadily improved his position and closed willingly from a slow beginning. DONNAGAY, in closest attendance of the early pace, took command entering the stretch and drew out in the closing eighth. FOOLS FOLLY, well placed throughout, closed with a rush and outlasted WEDGE LASS. The latter, always in close attendance of the pace, moved upthrcateningly at the head of the stretch, then tired. JUSTA LARK cut out a fast early pace, bolted to the outside fence entering the stretch and was coming again at the end. GRAND FLARA, away slowly, could never reach contention. CHANGEABLE, outrun in the early stages, slipped through next to the inner rail, came to the outside of the winner in the stretch and was wearing her down at every stride. DIE CAST racd forwardly placed throughout and had no excuses; PARTISAN moved up threateningly in the stretch, then tired. JOLLY GAL closed a good gap. BATON DAMOUR quit. NULLO had early speed.
