THUMBS DOWWN, slow -to get going and forced wide, gained steadily under pressure, but could not overhaul the winner. , GOOSENECK improved his position gradually and closed gamely under strong pressure. GRAND FINALE, a strong factor, to the final eighth, stumbled several times in the stretch and tired nearihg the finish. GREEN AND RED set the pace for three-eighths and also stumbled nearing the finish. MANHATTAN " Vould " not keepup. "VALLEY, PRINCE had early speed. SILVER HACKLE was fair back throughout. . The latter, well handled, rushed to the lead early, bore out badly approaching the stretch and might have won but for the loss of ground. EARLY CALL raced evenly and could not improve his position under hard riding. ZSAR closed gamely. HAPPY! RHINOCK raced well to the stretch. RULE OR RUIN was outrun. CONASTANTO was done early. The latter, taken under" mild reserve early, gained steadily, offered strong contention in the stretch and was overhauling the winner. DR. POTTER, a strong factor after a half mile, closed gamely under hard riding. UPON began slowly, was forced to lose ground while bettering his position and finished resolutely. KING CICERO tired after a half mile. SWIFT EXPRESS had no excuse. PRINCESS OCTA went well for three-quarters. The latter gained steadily, came through on the inside in the stretch, challenged gamely, but could not wear down the winner. LUCY, well up throughout, lost ground in the stretch. AXTEL gave a good performance under a hustling ride. SCORE rushed to the lead early, continued gamely to the stretch, then weakened. HOSPITALITY weakened after forcing the pace to the stretch.
