ROXANA S. was prominent in the early part and coming very fast in the stretch under hard urging wore down HEDON in the last eighth to get to the front in the closing strides, and was going away. HEDON had speed and dashing to the front of CHARMING MISS around the stretch turn, opened up a good lead, but weakened under punishment near the finish. MALIA broke slowly, but ran a good race to improve her position and was going gamely on the inside at the finish. DORALDINA went evenly. CHARMING MISS opened up a good lead while making the pace, tired badly in the stretch and had no excuses. POSILIPO tired. SERGEANT LEE was shuffled back soon after the start. CRYSTAL PAN broke quickly from the outside position and drawing up to GOLDN IVY after entering the stretch, headed the latter in the final eighth and won under urging. GOLDEN IVY dashed to the front soon after the start, saved ground all the way and held on fairly well. VIEWPOINT was forced to. take up when in close quarters early, then made up much ground to finish well. SHASTA BOY was also in close quarters early and showed a good effort. BONICON stopped badly in the stretch. SHASTA DOCK had early speed. VOLTDAIR and TEMPER were in close quarters early. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. Black Board, Dec. 4, 19341:105108. BARANCA, permitted to drop back while racing on the inside in the early running, was in close quarters but continued next to the rail, to find an opening when the early leaders swung a trifle wide on the stretch turn, and getting to the front in the last fifty yards, held ALSISTO. The latter came strongly on the outside of B EIGHTY in the stretch and going well to the finish barely misosd. B EIGHTY showed good early speed and drawing into a clear lead when LIOLELE began to tire, finished close up. TOTNESS was never a dangerous contender. LIOLELE weakened in the stretch. BUNNY MARTIN dropped back a trifle after going a quarter, but came fast on the outside of MAID OF PERTH after entering the stretch to catch the latter and draw out near the finish. QUICK LOOK came wide on the stretch turn to make his run and finished fast in the middle of the track. MAID OF PERTH was held under restraint close to VALINA in the early part and headed the latter after being straightened out for home, but weakened near the finish. TYNEMOUTH began slowly, was dropped in behind horses in the last quarter mile, and was going well at the finish. VALINA was used up getting to the front and tired in the last sixteenth. GATEWAY, lucky to avoid serious interference when in close quarters approaching the stretch turn, got through a narrow opening on the inside during the stretch run to get to the front in the final sixteenth and win drawing out. POLVOS PRIDE had the most early speed and held on fairly well, but just managed to save second place. SPEED GIRL raced wide while making her move, but was going fast at the end. MERELY was taken up sharply when in close quarters rounding the far turn and again pulled up approaching the stretch turn had little chance, although finishing well.
