GAY BALKO sprinted into a long lead in the opening eighth, saved ground all the way and held sway untif the end. INDIANA, holding a forward position from the start, rallied nicely in the final drive, but could not threaten the winner. MATTAPONY was stoutly ridden for the entire trip and showed a good effort. BERGERE raced in the first flight throughout while losing ground. HAPPY HOST was racing gamely approaching the finish. AMHURST lunged repeatedly while at the post, and delayed the start. SOCK DOLOGER, away nicely and rated within striking distance of the leaders, went around his company when making his run, closed gamely through the stretch drive, and was up in the last fifty yards. PETER PUMPKIN, going in his best form, moved up strongly leaving the back stretch and finished with good courage. CURLING went forwardly from the beginning and held on willingly in the final drive. CANTERSINE, away slowly, bettered her position readily in the last half mile. CHERRY STONE was . rushed hard to take the lead, had good speed for five-eighths, then stopped. BALLY BAY raced stoutly for Ihe first half mile then tired. OAKHURST was held safe. STOOL PIGEON was done after three-eighths. TELL IT stumbled midwav of the back stretch and fell. DELIBERATE sprinted into a long lead in the first quarter mile, was rated along while saving ground and held VITASCOPE safe when reaching the finish. VITASCOPE bettered his position steadily after being slow to settle in his stride and closed with good courage. SON OF TROY, hustled along all the way, weakened during the closing eighth. NOUVEAU RICHE could not gain a contending position at any stage. AROUSED was under strong handling from the beginning, but failed to rally when the real test came. EXALTATION was never dangerous. NIGHT SPRITE, fastest away, had good speed to draw into a clear lead early, was rated in front throughout and was never seriously threatened, to win with something in reserve. BILLY BEE, closest to the leaders at all times, made repeated efforts to reach NIGHT SPRITE, but was not good enough, tiring from his efforts and just lasted to hold BROWN TWIG safe. The latter, always well up, raced on the inside all the way and closed well. LEGUME raced evenly and had no excuses. BROKERS TIP was overmatched. CONQUER, rated off the pace for the first three-quarters, took command with a rush when reaching the stretch, opened up a clear lead, but had to be shaken up ncaring the finish. BIRD FLOWER, a strong early factor, displaced MICROBE midway of the final turn, saved ground and continued strongly until the end. BRAVING DANGER improved his position steadily after getting into full stride, and came stoutly in the late stages. DON GUZMAN, full of run while following close to the leaders, flattened out when put to a hard drive in the last five-sixteenths. EUDES was unable to threaten the leaders. SYNOD was never a factor. BUCK LANGHORNE, showing much improvement and going strongly to hold a contending position rallied willingly when shaken up, swung to the outside in the last five-sixteenths and held XANDRA safe after moving into the lead in the last eighth. XANDRA. prominent from the beginning, responded gamely for the closing drive and outfinished MISS PURRAY. The latter had good speed to shake off SANCTITY saved ground but weakened in the last three-sixteenths. CACHALOT closed full of run in the last half mile after coming very wide. The latter, within reach of the leaders from the start but forced to race on the outside, closed with good speed and was wearing down the winner. FOGARTY, slow as usual in the early racing, gradually improved his position and finished strongly. HOME WORK raced evenly and had no mishaps. PENCADER turned in a good effort. JAMES BOY, well up in the early racing, quit badly. JUST REMEMBER closed a big gap. DEARZIN stopped, as did OKAY WINCHELL. Overweight This Play, 4 pounds. Corrected weight This Play, 102.
