Wieners filly Nan Elizabeth here Tuesday morning, Ben Wit-son, 19, suffered a fracture of the skull and three broken ribs when his mount bolted. The lad was removed to a Columbus hospital. Jockey W. Lowe escaped with a shaking up when Best Man stumbled and fell with him at the first turn in the initial dash but he cancelled his remaining engagements. Acting for J. B. Respess, trainer Howard Hoffman has sold the three-year-old filly, The Baby, to Lewis Birkenbach of Colum-i bus, and the v four-year-old gelding Grand Manner to Gilbert Bilenkin of Dayton. Bilenkin has turned over Grand Manner to Doug Hoffman to train. Hoffman will take over the others members of the Respess string Miracle Maid and Colonial Lady. C. C. Paul, patrol judge and assistant racing secretary at Beulah Park, will leave on Wednesday for Riverside Park, Kansas City, where he will serve in a similar capacity.
