LAT0NIA TURF NOTES ] $ A number of jockeys, most of whom plied their trade during the Churchill Downs meeting, are on hand to await the opening here. Among those who will be ready to accept mounts Saturday are Chas. Stevenson, Willie Garner, Mack Garner, Herman Schutte, Jimmy McCoy, Willie Kern, Robert Finnerty. Harry Louman, Jack Mayer, Willie Hanka. Johnny Maiben, H. W. Fisher, Lee Canfield. Chas. Swain, M. L. Fallon, Albert Morgan, Joe Kederis, E. Ramsey, Joe Tinker, P. Roberts, Norman Le Blanc and Glen Fowler. This array is expected to be augmented considerably before the season opens. William Hamilton, who has been dispatching the fields at Latonia for many years, again will be on the job this season. He comes to Latonia following a successful meeting at Churchill Downs and will be assisted by the same efficient corps of ground men who worked under his direction at Louisville. They are Ruby White, Carl Burns, Cecil Phillips, Hugh McGinnis and Sprig Kennedy. Hamilton plans to begin schooling horses Wednesday with the arrival from Louisville of the Bahr starting stall. The Bahr gate will be used for all starts at Latonia. Latonia patrons will see a new young apprentice rider of promise in action in Charles Swain, who rode his first winner during the Churchill Downs meeting, Swain, who scales under 100 pounds, is attached to the stable of F. E. Childs and M. C. Walker, which is to campaign here. With a dearth of apprentice riding material, Swains services are expected to be in demand. Included in the Childs-Walker stable are Bibbies Choice, French Princess, Pastry, Arthur Metz, Blue Spur and Shining Jewel. Childs is also training Goodbye Blues for Mrs. T. L. Becraft. Four two-year-olds comprise the stable which J. E. Fuller will race here. George A. Burke owns two of them, Georgia Meaden and Toncon; F. C. Podesta owns another. Col. Julian, and A. P. Canale owns the fourth, Maryvito.
