GENERAL A. was steadied along in back of the pace in the run through the back stretch, moved up stoutly on the outside rounding the far turn, took command in the stretch and, hard ridden, drew clear. MEROVECH, well up from the start, moved up determinedly in the closing drive and held on stubbornly at the end. VIRBET was shuffled back soon after the start and, unable to gain clear sailing during the early part of the running, closed willingly under punishment. MANYA forced the early pace, assumed a slight lead nearinc the stretch, but was unable to keep pace in the stretch run. WISE KING was forwardly placed. but tired after going a half mile. SUN CHAUCER, away well and never far back at any stage of the running, saved ground at the stretch turn and, holding on gamely in the stretch drive, held GLEAMING safe. GLEAMING, forced to take up slightly nearing the stretch turn, recovered gamely and closed with good courage. FLYING PLAY, hard ridden from the start, loomed up menacingly nearing the stretch, but was unable to keep pace in the final drive. LINLACE was forwardly placed all the way. DURWRACK, a first-time starter, showed a good effort, but was unable to seriously endanger the leaders. DANARCO moved up on the inside when reaching the stretch and closed willingly. GOLDEN SEPTRE, away in the first flight and steadied along back of the pace, moved up on the outside when reaching the stretch, bore in slightly when passing HIGH TREASON and was going away at the end. HIGH TREASON was in close quarters nearing the finish when the winner bore over. HIGH TREASONS rider made a claim of foul, but it was not allowed. PRINCE DANNY raced prominently placed the entire way and held on well in the drive. SCREEN, shuffled back at the start and unable to gain clear sailing early, closed a good gap. JOHNNY BANE tired after going a half mile. BE JUST raced evenly. LADY PAL was unable to reach the leaders. SWEET MOLLIE was never prominent. WESTY JUNIOR displayed speed from the start, disputed the lead with DARK WAR while racing restrained, was given a breathing spell midway of the turn, drew clear in the stretch and was never seriously threatened. BACON, in the forefront throughout, continued with good energy to the end. KENT, well placed from the first half mile, closed stoutly thereafter. DARK WAR had early speed, but was unable to shake off the winner and faltered in the drive. JEAN LEE raced evenly throughout. POLLY DEAR was outrun. WEE WINK saved ground at the stretch turn, loomed up threateningly nearing the eighth post and dropped back steadily thereafter. FREDRICK was never a factor. He bled and was eased up at the end. GO QUICK disposed of FAUST for the lead, drew clear and. despite holding on stoutly and savinc ground, was unable to maintain her position under hard riding. The latter, away slowly, lost much ground around the Brst turn, moved up stoutly on the outside nearing the far turn, circled the leader and closed with a rush well out in the track throueh the stretch. UNDULATE outran his lield to the first turn, was rated along in front and tired throueh the last eiehth. SEA FOX, under restraint while following in nearest pursuit of the pace, tired after reaching the stretch. ONRUSH showed some speed in the run down the back stretch. BRIGHT BIRD raced to the front after roundine the first turn, was steadied along in front, but was unable to keep pace in the closing drive. BEAU BON closed some ground. SIR THOMAS dropped back to last place straightening out in the back stretch, moved up on the outside, but was unable to make up any ground in the last three-eighths. JEAN BROWN tired.
