JAMES N. raced to the front at once, withstood repeated bids from WIGAN through the back stretch, disposed of him and, holding on stubbornly, outlasted GAYETTE. The latter, steadied in pursuit of the pace, closed stoutly in the stretch run. SCOUT PLANE was slow to begin, worked her way forward steadily and Finished with good courage. WINON closed a good gap. PAQUES never was far off the leaders, but was unable to make up any ground in the drive. LOVE POTION was pinched back at the start and was outrun throughout. WIGAN tired. QUEEN VIC raced to the front in the opening strides, drew clear in the first eighth and, rated along under slight restraint, responded Co hard urging and held sway to the end. EPITAPH was prominently placed the entire trip and, saving ground in the stretch, closed gamely. PRIMER suffered some interference in the first quarter mile, moved up fast on the outside after leaving the back stretch, but was unable to reach the leaders when placed under pressure in the closing test. GOLDEN PRINCESS came with good energy in the last quarter mile. REGULA BADDUN had good early speed, but was unable to keep up in the last five-sixteenths. COUNT DEAN was permitted to settle into his best stride and was not hurried in the run through the back stretch, began moving up on the inside in the last three-eighths and, finishing stoutly through the stretch, wore down the leaders in the last seventy yards. NARISE, pinched back at the far turn, recovered gamely and, finishing stoutly, was up in the last stride to wear down SCOTCH GOLD for the place. The latter had good speed in paccmaking and only tired in the last sixteenth. MANY MOONS was prominently placed the entire trip, but was unable to make up any cround when placed under punishment. KERRY PATCH could never reach the leaders. CHARACTER tired after going a half mile. SANDY BEACH was badly bumped after straightening nut in the stretch and dropped back. BALIOS bore out badly around the First turn, moved up through the back stretch, but was never able to reach the leaders. SIR ROLLIE closed a good gap in the last quarter mile. LADY MARNOCK closed some ground through the last sixteenth and lost her rider after passing the finish. BEVEAU closed ground after breaking slowly. PACKAGE was away poorly and showed a good effort. OCEAN ROLL suffered some interfcience at the turn into the back stretch, was reserved until the last three-eighths and closed willingly. PRINCE SADOR closed ground through the stretch. DOGAWAY, faltered after going a half mile. JEWELL DORSETT had the most early speed, but quit after going five-eighth?. RUDIE quit badly after forcing the early pace.
