HYDROMELLA, a factor from the start and on the outside, was lucky to escape interference approaching the stretch turn and, closing with good courage, was getting to the winner. YERNA T.. close up from the beginning and on the outside, responded well to pressure in the final quarter. SHERIFF EUGENE tired after forcing the pace for a half mile. IMPRIMIS was racing close up on the inside on the stretch turn, where she stumbled and lost her rider. The latter, away fast, took a short lead on the inside when COLOR BELL raced wide and, though failing to withstand the winner, held on stubbornly. JERE, a factor from the start, saved ground, responded well to urging in the final sixteenth and closed resolutely. FRIEND JOHN, outrun for three-eighths, was taken to the outside in the final quarter, where he closed strongly. MACKS PAL displayed brief early speed. HOWS CHANCES pulled up lame. FAIR PROSPECT, far back for five-eighths, worked his way up between horses thereafter and closed well. JEFFREY tired after racing prominently on the outside for three-quarters.
