EDDY EXPECTS BIG MEETING New Orleans Fair Grounds General Manager Optimistic Over Coming Meeting at Southern Track. NEW ORLEANS, La., Oct. 28. General manager Robert S. Eddy, Jr., who has been at his desk in the offices of the Louisiana Jockey Club daily since his return from the Pacific coast a few weeks ago, never was more optimistic over the outlook of a racing season in the Crescent City than the forthcoming season at the Fair Grounds, which will be inaugurated on Thanksgiving Day and continue a schedule of 105 days. j In discussing the prospects, Mr. Eddyi stated that it has been necessary to repair some of the barns at Jefferson Park, due to the great demand for stable reservations for the coming season. It is probable that an even larger number of thoroughbreds will be stabled here this winter than was the case ; last year. t During the many years that Mr. Eddy has been at the helm of racing in New Orleans, 1 first at the Fair Grounds then at Jefferson Park and back to the Louisiana Jockey Clubs track, he freely admits that he never has experienced such a heavy request for stabling room. There are some 200 horses in New Orleans already, with the start of the season a month away and with new arrivals virtually every
