RUNAMUCK hustled along from the start, wore down INSCRIPTION nearing the final quarter and was unable to draw clear, then gave way in the stretch, but held on gamely. SMILIN ED, never far back and well handled, forged to the front midway of the stretch, but tired near the end. INSCRIPTION tired fast in the final eighth. ANKLETS came from far back. CAW CAW rushed to the front, opened up a good lead, gave way when challenged, then came again in the stretch, but failed to withstand the winner. HOPTOIT away slowly from outside the stalls, was in close quarters nearing the final half mile, improved its position when sent to the outside and finished strongly.
