ACAUTAW outran his field from the start and, suited in the going, drew away into a long lead, but was placed under pressure entering the stretch and held on well in the final drive. GOLDEN VEIN moved up with determination rounding the stretch turn and finished well. IRONBOUND was outrun in the first part, came to the outside of the leaders turning for home, but hung on in the final sixteenth. WATERMAN had no mishaps in the running. TAUNTON lacked early speed. FRISCO KID improved his position steadily on the outside, came around the leaders entering the stretch, responded when shaken up, disposed of the leaders and drew away. CONSERVATIVE was rushed into command after the break, showed speed in the going, bore out slightly rounding the stretch turn and held on well. IPSO FACTO came through on the inside rounding the far and stretch turns and closed stoutly. LIGHT CHATTER ran in spots on the inside. STEEL WORKER raced evenly. FRANCESCO broke well but dropped back, was outrun, worked his way up and finished fast between the leaders. BLACK BOO, a forward factor from the start, had no mishaps in the running. CRIUS raced greenly, lost ground rounding the far turn and then faltered in the final eighth. ISADORE saved ground after showing a flash of speed.
