JUVENILE TITLE RACE TODAY Tanforan Staging California Championship With 15 Eligibles Allan Gray Heads Coast Riders. SAN BRUNO, Calif., April 5. The king or queen of the California-bred two-year-old division will be crowned at Tanforan, Tuesday afternoon when fifteen of the best homebred two-year-olds are slated to meet in the California Juvenile Championship at four and one-half furlongs. The race appears to be an open affair and it is difficult to select the favorite. Shasta Buddy, which finished second to Rolling Ball in the California two-year-old fixture of the Santa Anita season, may be the choice, but most of the others figure as strong contenders. The California Juvenile Championship is for a purse of ,000 added. Racing secretary Reeder has rounded out one of the finest week-day cards of the meeting to support the two-year-old feature. He has Sobriety, Ariel Cross, War Glory and several more fine distance horses going one mile and seventy yards in the Early Hour Handicap and has listed a six furlongs encounter to bring out some topnotch sprinters. With the meeting going into the last ten days jockey Allan Gray, blonde saddle veteran, leads the jockeys, and apprentice Marvin Dauron is second. Gray, by piloting three winners Saturday, boosted his score to sixteen winners for the meeting, while Dauron, who failed to register on the closing day of last week, has fourteen winners. Jockey Ralph Neves, despite having served a ten-Say suspension, is fourth on the list.
