DISTRACT, displaying good speed, disposed of the leaders midway of the turn, saved ground and drew out smartly when shaken up during the stretch drive. SMALL CHANGE, also going in his best form, raced fonrardly from the beginning and held on willingly in the final drive. HAPPY HAZEL, slow to settle into her stride, circled her field arid finished full of run. DEDICATION was sent into a forward position midway of the turn, but tired under his weight in the final drive. SAXOPAL raced evenly. ADDIS ABABA showed early speed. The others were outrun. PATCHPOCKET, rated within striking distance of the leaders and kept on the outside, challenged strongly when shaken up in the last five-sixteenths and, finishing stoutly, came out in the final sixteenth. CRUISING, outrun for the first five-eighths, circled his field and closed with a belated rush. PRINCE TURLEY displayed good speed to shake off LORD TOURNAMENT, then saved ground, but tired under a hard drive. SIR ROSE was hustled hard to stay with the leaders and tired in the final test. SNOBBY SCAMP was unable to reach a forward position. LORD TOURNAMENT quit badly. SHEKNOWS could not threaten and may have heeded the race. Scratched 40118 Masked Gal. 108; 40007 Emvec, 114. REHEARSAL began quickly, took command soon after the start and held sway to the end after moving into a long lead when reaching the stretch. SMOKE SIGNAL lacked his usual early speed, but bettered his position steadily when in full stride, closed gamely under punishment, but could not threaten the winner. MISS OAK moved up fast rounding the turn and came gamely in the final issue. SINGING SLAVE was strongly handled, but was unable to stay after racing clear from the start. HUNTING HOME was inclined to bear toward the inside while on the outside of the leaders and failed to threaten. BROWN MOTH had no excuses. SUNNED permitted to gain his best stride after being outpaced for a half mile, swung to the outside when making his run, closed stoutly when reaching the stretch and wore down GRAND DUKE in the final sixteenth, the latter was hustled briskly to get a short lead, shook off repeated efforts from PATSLY BEGONE and WISE SISTER, saved much ground, but could not withstand the winner under punishment. WISE SISTER was vigorously ridden throuehout and continued gamely to the end. MASTER LAD trailed far back early, then closed a good gap in the late stages. CONQUER was unable to enter contention. SCUDDER outran his field to the first turn, was rated while saving ground, responded when shaken up in the last quarter mile, held on gamely, but barely lasted long enough to withstand CHIEF YEOMAN. The latter, reserved off the early pace, gained fast when put to a drive and was catching the winner steadily approaching the finish. SHINING KNIGHT forced a steady pace while going along closest to the winner and fought it out nicely when the real test came. MIDSHIPMAN closed with a belated rush in the last half mile and was racing strongly at the close. GAY DOG had no excuses. XANDRA raced disgracefully, began dropping back after entering the back stretch, then was steered extremely wide in the last five-sixteenths. Corrected weight Scudder, 114. SIXTH RACE 1 1-16 MILES. PENRILL, well placed and saving ground early, swung wide into the stretch and tired gradually. ROLLICK, slow to get going, bettered his position steadily in the last half mile. GRAINGER could not better his position at any stage.. BOOSEL sprinted into an easy lead, but tired after going seven-eighths. PRECIOUS KING was always held safe. WORTHINGTON had no excuses. ICY WIND sprinted into a clear lead when straightened in the back stretch, was shaken up mildly in the last five-sixteenths and drew out swiftly approaching the finish. KOTERITO, forced to race on the outside, gained steadily in the late stages, closed gamely, but could not menace the winner. QUIET PLEASE was kept in the first flight from the beginning and held on with good courage. CANPRA, slow to settle into her stride, finished gamely in the late stages. SYLVIA G. raced forwardly for three-quarters, then tired. The others wert never factors; Overweight Sleepy Rox, 1 pound; Zinnia, 2. Corrected weight Canpra, 117; Italian Harry, 115.
