NOTICING, away fast, crossed to the inside after opening up a clear advantage in the first eighth, displayed keen speed when increasing her margin after reaching the final quarter and probably had something left. JACQUELINE M. had speed from the start and held on with good courage. SAND BAG, well up from the start, lost much ground and held on gamely in a good performance. TILLY KATE bore out on the turn and rallied stoutly when straightened in the stretch. LADY ORCHID raced well. HOUSEKEEPER lost much ground on the turn. PATRONA lacked room early and, eased back, had little chance thereafter. STORM WARNING began slowly and raced greenly. LADY FOREVER and BREEZY FLAG also began slowly. RAMROD slipped through between horses when moving up approaching the turn, got to the front briefly when racing wide on the turn, but failed to hold GEO. GABLE while holding on well in the drive and appeared lucky to win. GEO. GABLE, away fast and on the inside throughout, was under light restraint for a half mile, took a short lead in the final eighth and, but for easing himself as he attempted to savage tht winner, might have won. COMMUNIST gained steadily after a half mile and was going with determination in the closing stages. CAPTAIN HENRY lost ground early and tired in the final quarter. FOR ROMANCE quit. BURNING STAR, going in fine form and having speed from the start, was under stout restraint for a half mile, took command gradually and, finishing with much in reserve, was steadied along under restraint while working out a mile in 1:39. GOLD FLAG, well up from the start, could not get to the winner when lightly shaken up after reaching the stretch and tired, but outstayed MANRICO. He was also worked out a mile. MANRICO, slow to begin, saved much ground and closed in resolute fashion. NIGHT BANDIT faced wide and failed to keep up. AIRLAP gave way badly after a half mile. Overweight Hum, 2 pounds. PULL CORD, away well, took command under strong hand nding, was taken to the inside after an eiehth and responding to brisk pressure in the final three-sixteenths, increased his margin, but probably had little left. REBEL FLAG, well up from the start, faltered momentarily when racing between horses in the stretch but came strongly to dispose of JESSIE O. in the last eighth. The latter, away in a tangle but tired in the last sixteenth. DOMINANT and raced wide throughout, bettered her position gradually, DARBY had speed, but tired in the drive. THE QUEEN, under light weight and having the benefit of the pace, dropped back on the second turn, but offered fine response when placed to stronger pressure in the stretch and was up in the closing strides. GOSUM, inclined to bear over in the run to the first turn and taken under stout restraint after the first " quarter, rallied to vigorous urging after reaching the last three-eighths and, after wearing down BLACK LOOK, held on well under his light impost, but was not good enough. BLACK LOOK was forced to lose much ground early, raced well in hand for about five-eighths, opened up a good lead entering- the stretch, but tired in the final eighth and was not strongly persevered with. TEDALL almost fell when in close quarters when racing on the inside, failed to get through leaving the back stretch and swerved out when tiring. Won driving; second and third the same; WEE HEDWIG, away fast and saving ground throughout, came away when placed to light urging after reaching the stretch and, holding on with determination, withstood the rush of SQUAW LADY. The latter, crowded back at the start, began to move up when saving ground on the far turn, swung to the outside approaching the stretch where she continued strongly and, after impeding AIR POCKET in the last seventy yards, just failed to wear down the winner, but was disqualified for the foul. AIR POCKET moved up with a rush after entering the stretch and was going strongly when impeded by SQUAW LADY. ROCKABYE BABE, knocked out of contention in the opening quarter, secured room on the inside in the stretch and was in close quarters near the end. BORDER QUEEN began slowly. KATCHICAN tired. JUST BUCK forced the early pace under steady restraint, raced around REELAWAY on the stretch turn and, holding on well after opening up a good lead, withstood GLINTS bid. The latter, badly outrun early, saved ground improving its position and was rapidly wearing down the winner. REELAWAY showed fair speed from the start, swerved out slightly in the stretch and readily gave way to the winner and also GLINT, yet held on fairly well. GOLDEN NUT finished resolutely in his good effort. THE WHIG and TOP SPIN tired. DEBACLE would not extend himself and was eased up. Overweight Top Spin, 3 pounds; Debacle, 4.
