DALLAS DAY AT ARLINGTON Big Crowd Expected Despite Forecast of Rain Eleven Named for Featured Handicap. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 23. Despite unsettled weather and a forecast of rain tomorrow, a well balanced program, topped by the Dallas Springs Handicap, an overnight affair which takes the place of the discarded stake by that name, is arranged for the fourth and next to the final Saturday at Arlington Downs tomorrow. Eleven stayers representing eight different owners will travel a mile and a sixteenth in the stake, with Ashen slated to carry top impost of 112 pounds. Salaam, which is coupled with Boston Sound as the Clarence Davison entry, comes next under 111 pounds, and then follows Boston Sound and Miss Ginbar under 108 pounds each. Ashen is the most improved horse of Texas spring racing and his handy victory in the Springtime Handicap over several that will oppose him tomorrow drew him the highest package. MAIDEN JUVENILE CONTEST. The Gaucho Purse, the third race, attracted a good band of selling platers and a limit number of maiden two-year-olds will run four and a half furlongs in the Pan American Exposition Purse and fourth contest. The handicap is the sixth number on the program. Heretofore Dallas Day has brought forth one of the largest crowds of the meeting, and in the event the management is favored by clear weather this years gathering is expected to exceed all others.
