EMVEE, permitted to settle into his best stride before moving forward, gained fast on the outside in the last five-sixteenths and, finishing determinedly when engaging the leaders, was up inside the final sixteenth. GOLD CLIP displayed good speed while setting the pace, shook off stiff contention from SKYRIDE, but could not stay with the winner when caught. SKYRIDE offered good contention for five-eighths, then tired. TAKUS raced well placed, but failed to threaten when shaken up. HARRYS DREAM and SPUR FLOWER were outrun. STAGE BEAUTY had much speed to move into the lead soon after the start, responded courageously when placed to a hard drive in the stretch run and held on stoutly to stall off BUNNY BABY. The latter raced in closest attendance of the winner from the beginning, challenged strongly at midstretch, but failed to gain during the final issue. BUSSE TRUMPET gained a forward position early, was hard ridden, but could not threaten during the final drive. DIARISSA, forced to race on the outside, could not menace in the final test. SUNTIME raced evenly. MISS SIS was outrun. ACE OF TRUMPS was held safe. ACTRESS was done after going three-eighths. Overweight Diarissa, li pounds. THIRD RACE 3-4 MILE Out of Chute. Won driving; second and third the same. BLACK HIGHBROW, a keen factor from the start, wore down DEFLATE when straightened into the stretch, withstood a stout drive and came clear slowly at the end. DEFLATE displayed her usual early speed, saved ground throuzhout and continued tenaciously after being caught. JOYRIDE followed close to the leaders and held on willingly under a hard drive. SAGE GIRL was hard ridden to hold a position within striking distance of the leaders, but failed to threaten seriously in the final drive. PURPLE KNIGHT, beginning quickly, was steadied off the pace for the first three-quarters, rallied strongly to displace the pacemaker, opened up a clear lead when reaching the stretch and drew out approaching the finish. CHANCE RAY broke awkwaidly, was rushed hard to reach a contending position, made several strong bids, but was held perfectly safe in the closing drive. ARMY AND NAVY could not reach contention and was held safe when the real test came. KIEVEX lacked speed. LEMONT sprinted into a long lead, was rated until challenged, then tired badly. WAR ADMIRAL outran his field to the first turn, was steadied for three-quarters while racing in hand, moved into a clear lead midway of the turn, then, continuing resolutely, drew out without effort approaching-the finish. COURT SCANDAL followed near to the leaders while saving ground, responded courageously when shaken up, but could not threaten. OVER THE TOP, stoutly ridden to keep within striking distance of the leaders, came through on the inside of FAIRY HILL entering the stretch and finished with good courage. TEDIOUS was vigorously ridden and raced well, although unable to enter contention with the leaders. FAIRY HILL forced a steady pace while following in close pursuit of the winner, but faltered in the last quarter mile. SIAM could not better his position at any stage. PLAYOFF moved into the lead at once, was steadied in front, saved ground and held on with good energy when forced to a hard drive. STROPHE was well placed in the early running and Finished gamely under punishment in the final drive. CAPT. JERRY challenged strongly at the stretch turn, but faltered in the final eighth. EUDES, rated within reach of the leaders, moved up quickly to take a short lead when leaving the back stretch, bore out slightly on the final turn and closed with good speed to wear down PADDYS SISTER. The latter, always in a contending position, moved into a short lead entering the stretch when EUDES bora out and continued gamely to the end. BLACK MISCHIEF, slow to find his best speed, moved up threateningly on the final turn, but was not good enough. RED LABEL, well up from the start, made a determined bid through the stretch, but tired. JIMMY D., fractious at the post and breaking from outside the stalls, made up some ground. HARD CHASE flashed early speed, but tired badly. Overweight Red Label, 3 pounds; Dunair, 1.
