CLAIM PRICES ABOVE ,000 No Races at Omaha for Cheaper Horses Minimum Purse Set at 00 Preferred List. OMAHA, Neb., April 24. Ak-Sar-Bens racing conditions for the first nine days ot the thirty-four day meeting, announced today, indicate the highest type of competition in the history of the Omaha meeting. Not a race is carded where the claiming price is under ,000, nor a purse under 00, with the exception of the events for Nebraska-breds. Under the state racing law at least one race a day must be held for Nebraska-bred or owned horses. Purses for the home stock will be 00. Julius G. Reeder, the new racing secretary, has announced another type of competition new to Ak-Sar-Ben, condition races for class "B" horses that have been running at ,500 or less, class "C" at ,500 or less and class "D" at ,500 or less. THREE DISTANCE RACES. At least three races daily during the first nine days will bo at a mile and seventy yards or longer, while the increased purse money of 35,000 has been distributed by scheduling more races calling for purses of 00 and 00. Principal handicaps during the first nine days are the Queens Plate, May 29, at a mile and seventy yards for a ,000 stake, and the Governors Handicap, June 5, at a mile and a sixteenth for ,000. The first sprint handicap is scheduled for opening day. May 27, a six furlongs brush for an 00 stake. With the exception of the first two Saturdays, when eight races will be listed, the daily program will call for seven events. Secretary Reeder announced the preferred list will be retained, discarding the also eligible list. Reeder will spend a few days here this week en route from Tanforan for the East where he will recruit more stables for the local meeting.
