MILKY WAY BAND POWERFUL Mars String One of Strongest Now Quartered at Churchill Downs Heaping Reward Leader. I LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 24. Headed by a quintet of Kentucky Derby eligibles, including the highly regarded Reaping Reward, the string of horses which Robert McGarvey brought here from Texas for the Milky Way Farm of Mrs. Ethel V. Mars, is one of the most powerful at Churchill Downs. The stable, which shipped here in fine style from Arlington Downs includes not only the Derby candidates, but eligibles for the Clark Handicap, the Bashford Manor i Stakes and the Kentucky Oaks as well. Besides Reaping Reward, the Derby horses arc Military, Case Ace, Murph and Jaw Breaker. Military also has been named for the Clark, as have Fast Express and Mars Shield, winner of the Texas Derby, while those eligible for the Oaks are Mars Shield, I Talma Dec and Sunset Girl. I The Milky Way Farm was a most liberal J subscriber to the Bashford Manor, the prin- cipal event during the Downs meeting for two-year-olds, it being represented by eight youngsters, all of which are on the grounds. They are Quick Getaway, Lofty Manners, I John One, Mountain Ridge, C-Note, Tiger. Sky Larking and Fire Marshall. Of these , only Sky Larking and Fire Marshal have faced the barrier. The other two-year-olds in the stable are Farrell, Well Rewarded, Harriet Ann, Mary OHara and Marcie S. The remaining older horses in the string are Dogaway, The Fighter, Wonderful Night, Nations Taste, High Pressure and I Whiskolo. . McGarvey did not indicate which of his Derby horses would be a running mate for Reaping Reward in the 0,000 race, but it is certain he will have a strong hand to play in the Blue Grass fixture.
