MISS GINBAR SCORES AGAIN Captures Dallas Handicap at Arlington Downs by Half Length Ashen and Salaam Garner Minor Awards Large Crowd Views Texas Sport Chispa Best In Juvenile Race. ARLINGTON, Texas, April 24. Miss Gin-bar, which was acquired by E. N. Thompson via the claiming route, chalked up her second straight victory and her fourth of the year when she was a driving winner of the Dallas Spring Handicap, sixth and principal race of a well-balanced program offered by the Texas Jockey Club this afternoon. Ridden by G. L. Smith and under 108 pounds, the four-year-old daughter of Zev reached the end of a mile and one-sixteenth a half length before Ashen, which carried the top burden of 112 pounds. Salaam was third, a head back of Ashen and a length before Woodlander, which was up to beat Eastport, which, with Gallant Eagle, was the favored Mrs. V. Wyse entry, by a head for fourth laurels. The stablemate followed next, and Seventh Heaven and Porcellus completed the task in the named order. The program honored the city of- Dallas and in addition to the feature the races were named for prominent citizens and those who will have charge of the Pan-American Exposition to be. held this summer. A drop in the temperature that followed a heavy sandstorm which visited this section shortly after the close of yesterdays program provided wonderful racing weather. The crowd was one of the largest of the meeting. HIGH WIND. A high wind caused slow time to be recorded in most of the races, which were run over a fast track. Favorites held their own but there were several surprises and the biggest one came with the fifth event It resulted in an easy victory for Nat Bragg, with Escomur second and Dominus Witch third. Lifelike was the choice, but after improving her position, dropped back and led only Maguire, the second choice, and Lady Rosamond. F. Scovilles Dark Seeker chalked up her first victory of the year when she was a handy and popular winner of the first race at six and one-half furlongs. Heavy Sugar was second, and third went to Parva Stella. Ridden by Sammy Roberts, the leading rider of the meeting and slow to get going, the winner moved into contention on the inside and, disposing of Parva Stella after leaving the back stretch, she rapidly established a clear advantage. However, she swung a trifle wide at the stretch bend, and Roberts put her to light urging when Parva Stella came again, and Heavy Sugar moved into contention. San Lu tired after nine-sixteenths, and Royal Treasure, which also was well admired, closed fast to beat him for fourth honors. CASUALTY IN SECOND. A casualty came with the second race, which resulted in a head victory for Count Cotton, when Marchline finished third and a length back of Grasswrack stumbled soon after the finish and tossed Sammy Roberts. The lad received a hard fall and appeared to have been struck by the flying heels of several of the seven that chased the leaders to the finish, but an examination at the emergency hospital revealed that ho was not critically injured and was suffering with a cut elbow, superficial injuries and a badly swollen jaw. Hasty Glance signalled her return to competition in a decisive victory in the third race. Sun Monk was second, three lengths back of the winner and more than two lengths before Norman D., which led Inscription, the favorite. The winner was rushed into a clear lead during the opening quarter and soon increased her advantage to four lengths. When having increased her margin to five lengths, Richard took hold of her and she was well in hand at the close. Chispa triumphed over Mad Shirley, Exum and eight other maiden two-year-old fillies in the Pan American Exposition Purse, the fourth race. Ridden by M. L. Fallon and coupled in the field with Jean Du Bud, the winner attained a good lead during the run to the stretch and although tiring in the final sixteenth, reached the finish a length before Mad Shirley, which lasted to beat Exum by a head for second.
