LATONIA PROSPECTS CHEERING Only Pleasant Weather Necessary to Insure Successful Meeting Covington Course Scheduled to Open One Week From Saturday Stake Pro ¬ gram Rich and Varied VariedLATONIA LATONIA Ky May 20 With Interest running high in the return of racing to Latonia the management believes that only a fair share of pleasant weather is necessary to the success of the thirtyseven day meet ¬ ing which gets under way here a week from Saturday SaturdayAn An extensive stakes program topped by the 15000 added Latonia Derby to be run on June 12 and attractive purse induce ¬ ments have done much to bring many of the larger stables to Latonia and racing officials confidently expect to stage a brand of sport of the highest caliber throughout the season seasonMost Most of the regulars will be back for tha long meeting and there also will be many newcomers stables which heretofore have concentrated their activities in other sectors That there will be no shortage of horses is seen in the report of track superintendent Charles Nolte who says virtually every stall on the grounds has been allotted allottedSeveral Several hundred horses already are on the grounds having shipped here directly from winter tracks while the colony of thorough ¬ breds is expected to reach its peak about the middle of next week when a majority of those who took part in the Churchill Downs meeting are due here hereMuch Much interest is attached to the Latonia Derby which this year promises to have one of its finest renewals In the list of nomina ¬ tions are the names of practically every out ¬ standing threeyearold in the country in ¬ cluding the Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner War Admiral AdmiralThat That the public is looking forward to the meeting is reflected in the calls for season reservations which resident manager Russell Sweeney says is the highest in some years Meanwhile yearsMeanwhile the finishing touches are being put to improvements on the grounds and stands All work is expected to be completed by the middle of next week
