WITHERS FIELD MAY BE LARGE War Admiral and Pompoons Ab ¬ sence Heartens Other Owners Billionaire Black Ix ok and Others Among AmongProspective Prospective Starters in Saturdays SaturdaysNoted Noted Race I NEW YORK N Y May 20 With both War Admiral and Pompoon passing up the Withers Stakes the weekend feature of the Westchester Association at Belmont Park there is a chance for a large field going to the post for the old prize and it is ex ¬ pected that not less than nine of the eligi bles will be seen under silks silksThis This famous old prize which had its first running in 1874 has an importance of its own but it is always of greatly added im imj j portance in the line it affords on the Bel ¬ mont which follows This year it loses some of the importance with both War Admiral and Pompoon absent for on all that has been shown up to this time they stand out over the other threeyearolds threeyearoldsBut But this may make for a better contest for the others are surely closer together in the matter of form Billionaire will doubt ¬ less be sent out by Dick Thompson to carry the silks of Edward R Bradley and C V Whitneys Black Look after his recent victory in the Swift Stakes is the natural choice from that stable stableKNIGHT KNIGHT GALLANT READY READYKnight Knight Gallant will probably race for the Brookmeade Stable and he has been work ¬ ing well for Fontaine Mosawtre is the hope of Mrs Julia M Loft and the Green tree Stable has a worthy candidate in Chicolorado which showed excellent form at Jamaica Willis Sharpe Kilmers Beau Pa ¬ rade showed enough in the Swift to warrant being sent to the post and John Hay Whit ¬ neys Flying Scot is fit and ready for the silks Another that is looked upon as a sure starter is Melodist winner of the Wood Memorial for the Wheatley Stable StableEach Each one of these proposed starters has come up to the running nicely and the finishing touches was put on some of them yesterday morning Melodist was sent along for a breezing mile in 142 at Aqueduct by James Fitzsimmons and it indicated a readi ¬ ness for a firstclass race Billionaire has several nice moves to his credit creditFlying Flying Scot has done all that has been asked since his race in the Preakness and Mosawtre has been kept fit both in training and racing racingThere There may be additions to those that have been named as the probable field but it is reasonably certain that those mentioned will be seen under silks and there is not much left among the other eligibles that are really worthy unless it be Flying Cross the stablemate to Black Look which was sent along for a handy mile in 143 at Belmont Park yesterday
