BURKE RETURNS WITH SONIA Popular General Manager of Ice Ballet Back in Chicago After Ex- I tended Trip Over U. S. The genial William "Bill" Eurke was a Chicago arrival Thursday with the Sonja Henie troupe of ice skaters, of which he is general manager. Burke was busier than a one-armed paperhanger at the Chicago Stadium Thursday evening greeting his many friends in all walks of the sporting world, between periods of the Black Hawks-Detroit hockey game. Despite weeks of strenuous work with the ice troupe, which has carried him from coast to coast, Burke is thriving, gaining weight in the meantime. The ice carnival is transported from city to city on a special train of nine cars, made up of four pullmans, three baggage cars, a diner and a lounge car, and it is Burkes job to see that every person making up the ice br.llet of 100, makes the train, their baggage also and that everything is right with the world. The Henie show is scheduled to open Christmas night at the Stadium and continue for one week. Every show during the long tour has been a sell-out in every city on the schedule. Burke is very popular with Chicagoans. He is commander-in-chief of the Stadium ticket force, handles fight tickets, wrestling tickets and also the ates at most of the Chicago race trackj.
