ZORANA displaced FLICKERING on the turn out of the back stretch, was hustled hard for the remainder of the trip and had enough in reserve to withstand SPITTENIMAGE. The latter was a strong contender in the early racing and came gamely in the closing drive. CANDAR raced well placed and. rallied nicely when shaken up for the closing drive. LITTLE TARZAN was vigorously ridden to race in the thick of contention and held on well. FREDALVA. slower than usual to settle in -his stride, closed lull oftrun. SAY DO was done after going a half mile. AFTERMATH could not reach the leaders. FLICKERING quit after showing early speed. The others were outrun. BLUE GROTTO set a steady pace, saved ground and continued with excellent courage when forced to a hard drive.. PLAY f GOLD improved his position gradually and finished fastest. CRIMEA raced in his best form and was a stout contender all the iiay. QUICKER closed with good speed. FRANCO SAXON could not keep up. SKY ARGO raced evenly. SHIMMERING was outrun. WHY TARRY was very slow at the break. MAEMUTE was" caught in a jam midwav of the back stretch and almost fell. JUMELUS was outrun. GOLD DART worked his way up ori the outside, moved to the leaders on the stretch turn and finished with a rush. JOCKS BETSY, in the thick of contention from the start, held on with good energy when placed to punishment. HUNTER L., outrun for a half mile, came between horses and closed with a bold rush. QUICK CHANGE closed a big gap from a slow beginning and was racing resolutely at the end. POST OFFICE was outrun. OAK APPLE "showed a flash of early speed. WEEBAG was held safe. SLY KITTY quit badly. SIR REG, outrun and permitted to gain full stride, circled his field and finished strongly. COPPER TUBE was made entirely too much use of sprinting into a long lead and tired in the last three-sixteenths while under punishment. TATAN was steadied back of the pacemaker, but failed to Tally when the real test came. WILD COUNT showed a good effort. GIANT KILLER failed to rally when placed to a drive. PASSING EVE, starting slower than usual, gained steadily in the last half mile and was catching the winner at every stride. STALAGMITE raced in his best form and was a strong contender all the way. THE STORY worked his way forward between horses to finish in close quarters. WHAT A PAL raced in spots. TOBY TYLER set a good pace, but failed to hold on. LIFE GUARD raced below his best form. JEZREEL raced closest to the pacemaker, caught MERE BLAZE and fought it out stoutly. MERE BLAZE sprinted into a long lead early, was steadied, but failed to hold on. EARL PORTER worked his way forward while saving ground and finished on horses heels in the closing drive. MOTION PICTURE raced prominently and had no mishaps. EASIEST WAY could not reach contention.
