MEETING AT NORTH RANDALL Track Officials Apply for 33 Days, From May 27 to July 4 at Columbus Track. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Dec. 23 Rumors in circulation in Ohio racing circles for the past few weeks that thoroughbred horses will be seen in action at the North Randall track in 1939 were verified when Charles Y. S McVey, Cleveland, applied to the state racing in; commission for a thirty-three days meeting, in from May 27 to July 4, inclusive. McVey, president of the old Ohio Stat Telephone Co., which was consolidated into what is now the Ohio Bell System, said lie represented a group of Cleveland business men who planned to sponsor running race meetings at the North Randall course. North Randall heretofore has been devoted to the trotters.- . It was said that harness races again will be conducted at North Randall in 1939, but they will follow the forty-three days Thistle " Down Park meeting, July 8 to August 26. McVey said that extensive improvements ai are being planned for the North Randall course. An entirely new grandstand, clubhouse, ni barns and huge parking facilities are P1 planned, he said, with work starting next m month. "North Randall will be greater than ever, McVey m declared. "The plant will be brought ul up-to-the-minute." The new Cleveland group will incorporate ,, u under the name of the North Randall Racing 11 Association.
