READY FOR EMERGENCIES BERLIN Germany July 22 An official spokesman today described Germanys wide ¬ spread military preparations in connection with the Danzig problem as a natural pre caution Germany must be ready for all emergencies he said since it is clear the Reich does not regard this as a right or desirable solution The next few months will show whether a situation now resembling a gordian knot can be unravelled or must be cut with the sword Germanys hope today is that Poland will decide upon a peaceful solution upon a quidproquo basis that will damage Polands prestige as little as pos sible
